SMS Terms & Consent

Vida Medical Associates Inc. d/b/a Cabrera Medical ("we," "us," "our," or "Practice") provides SMS (Short Message Service) text messaging to patients and prospective patients as a convenient way to receive appointment reminders, follow-up communications, and other practice-related notifications. By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to SMS communications, you consent to receive text messages from us in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
1. Types of SMS Communications
If you have consented to receive text messages from Cabrera Medical, you may receive messages related to the following:
- Account notifications — Example: "Hello, this is Cabrera Medical confirming your appointment on [date] at [time]. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messaging from Cabrera Medical."
- Customer care — Example: "Hello, this is Cabrera Medical following up on your recent visit. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messaging from Cabrera Medical."
- Delivery notifications — Example: "Hello, this is Cabrera Medical notifying you that your lab results are available. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messaging from Cabrera Medical."
- Marketing — Example: "Hello, this is Cabrera Medical with information about our new wellness program. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messaging from Cabrera Medical."
2. Message Frequency
Message frequency may vary, including marketing communications. Typical patients receive 2–8 messages per month depending on their interactions with our practice.
3. Message and Data Rates
Standard message and data rates may apply for SMS messages you receive from us, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Cabrera Medical does not charge patients for SMS communications. Check with your carrier for details on your messaging plan.

5. How to Opt Out
You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message you receive from us. Upon opting out, you will receive a confirmation text. You may receive one final administrative message confirming your opt-out request.
6. Standard Messaging Disclosures
For assistance, text "HELP" or visit our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions pages.
Standard message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. You can opt out at any time by texting STOP.
7. HIPAA and Health Information
Some SMS communications may contain limited protected health information ("PHI"), such as appointment times or general follow-up reminders. We minimize the amount of PHI sent via text. We will never send diagnostic results, detailed treatment plans, or sensitive medical records via SMS.
For sensitive or detailed health information, we will direct you to call our office or access our secure patient portal. If you believe your PHI has been used or disclosed inappropriately, contact us immediately at (561) 744-1343.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect the information transmitted via SMS. However, SMS text messaging is not inherently encrypted end-to-end. We recommend exercising caution when sharing sensitive information over text. We will not request your Social Security number, full date of birth, or insurance details via SMS.
